Selkie Transformation Original Artwork

The mythical Selkie or seal folk are beings who can transform from seal to human by shedding their skin.  They are most commonly found in folktales from Northern Scotland and the Scottish Isles.

I was inspired to create this tribute to these magical beings after a holiday to the Scottish Highlands, where the scenery was a feast for the imagination!

This original artwork has been painted in many shades of metallic golds and japanese watercolours to create a shimmering and magical image.

The illustration aims to convey both sides of the selkies life.
